Busturialdea Regional Rural Development Program (PDR) 2015–2020
The Busturialdea PDR is the strategic planning instrument that stems from the Basque Country Rural Development Law (Law 10/1998). Its objective is to organize and manage the rural environment of the region in a sustainable manner, involving institutions, economic and social agents, and citizens. The document sets out a vision for 2020 of a region that is territorially and socioeconomically balanced, with a vibrant primary sector, high-quality tourism, other diversified economic activities, and services that strengthen social cohesion. It is based on four strategic areas: (1) Agricultural, livestock, and forestry economic activity, (2) A solid, high-quality tourism sector, (3) Other economic activities with a driving industry, (4) Quality of life and territorial cohesion. The PDR was developed through a participatory process led by ADR Urremendi, with regional workshops, interviews, and contributions from local agents.
